Legendary group Public Enemy and Chuck D.’s label SlamJamz has partenered with Boston-based m-Qube to help promote their new album New Whirl Odor.

Through the venture, a package of mobile offerings will be available for download.

"As an independent label, we are always looking for ways to expand our distribution network," said PE frontman Chuck D. "Mobile is happening in a big way, and we are thrilled to be using it to reach our fans - wherever they are."

Fans will have access to exclusive content, including polytones, mastertones, full tracks and wallpapers.

According to Public Enemy's manager Walter Leaphart, the new venture was a natural progression for the group.

"Public Enemy has always been a leader in music and new technology, and this is the latest phase of their multi-faceted campaign that will continue to build in the coming months."

m-Qube will manage distribution of the content, releasing it to their network of wireless carriers.

"We are thrilled to leverage our technology and distribution network to help innovative entertainers like Public Enemy use mobile to reach their audiences," said m-Qube's VP of Worldwide Content, Jon Bukosky. "Mobile is a critical channel for musicians and we are pleased to have been selected by Public Enemy to make this happen.”

PE's album New Whirl Odor is in stores now.

50's 'Bulletproof' Kept Off Australian Shelves, Rapper Allowed Into Canada - courtesy of allhiphop.com

The Australian Office of Film and Classification (OFLC), has refused to rate 50 Cent's new video game “50 Cent: Bulletproof,” effectively keeping the video game out of stores down under.

The game was deemed to be excessively violent by The OFLC. The organization cited the ability to kill victims who moaned or begged for their lives, the ability to shoot injured characters as they attempt to crawl away and blood splattering on the screen as reasons for not classifying the game.

“Bulletproof,” which is rated MA-18 for Mature in the United States, is too violent to pass approval for the Australian rating commission, which has an MA-15 rating.

“Bulletproof” is not the first game to be banned in Australia. Games like “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,” “Manhunt” and “NARC” have also been kept off the shelves due to violent content.

Vivendi Universal, the company that created “Bulletproof,” has been given the option to resubmit a more toned down version of the game.

Watchdog group Family Media Guide recently released this year’s listing of the top 10 most violent video games – and “Bulletproof” made the list along with “Crime Life: Gang Wars,” “True Crime: New York City,” “Resident Evil 4” and others.

In related news, 50 Cent was granted permission to enter Canada to complete a tour that launches Dec. 3.

The rapper was granted a temporary resident visa by Immigration officials despite the objections of Canadian MP, Dan McTeague, who claimed the rapper's criminal record and violent lyrics were enough to keep him out of Canada.

Daddy Yankee Sticks To His Roots, Won't Lean On Snoop - courtesy of MTV.com

SANTA MONICA, California — Daddy Yankee, who scorched up dancehalls around the globe with the reggaetón hit "Gasolina," could have easily milked his recent collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams for all they are worth.

Instead, the Puerto Rican artist wanted to rely on his own talents to sell his music. The infectious club anthem "Rompe" (sans Snoop or Pharrell) serves as the first single off his forthcoming release, Barrio Fino en Directo, a CD/DVD compilation featuring footage from his latest world tour. "Doing [things] with my colleagues in the hip-hop game is big, but I won't lose my fanbase and what has got me here," Daddy Yankee said. "Why fix [something] that is not broken?"

Yankee (born Raymond Ayala) picked up the torch as the frontrunner of the reggaetón movement after his 2004 release, Barrio Fino, became the first reggaetón LP to go platinum. The album, which was Yankee's third solo effort, is also the first reggaetón release to debut at #1 on Billboard's Latin chart.

His upcoming CD/DVD, which includes live renditions of Yankee's hits, is due December 13. The 16-track release will also boast five new tracks produced by Urba y Monserrate and the Latin Grammy-nominated Luny Tunes. "Rompe," "Machucando" and "El Truco" all feature the Daddy Yankee style that won over fans, while "Gangsta Zone," featuring Snoop Dogg, is on deck to be the next single. Snoop and Daddy Yankee will be shooting the video for the song in Puerto Rico to "capture the real essence of the song and to show the real way we live on the island," he said. Yankee also worked with Peoples Champ Paul Wall on the remix "Machete Reloaded," which puts a twist on the performer's original track.

"I think the industry needs new sounds, and that sound is reggaetón right now," the 28-year-old said of the genre that blends dancehall rhythms with Spanish lyrics. "It's bringing the new flavor to the industry. Even though you don't understand the language, you will dance to it and you feel it because it's real. Music is a universal language, and we're unifying the cultures."

Daddy Yankee's DVD, directed by Carlos Perez, contains concert footage from his extensive world tour, behind-the-scenes footage and an in-depth documentary in which Yankee discusses racism and war and opens up about personal matters like growing up on the streets, his rise to fame and his role as a reggaetón ambassador thanks to the global impact of "Gasolina."

"I have the responsibility to educate the people out there and teach them what reggaetón is about, so with this DVD I hope people will understand us more," Yankee explained, adding that he hopes to serve as an example to youth that a person can become a success without forfeiting his values.

"As a Latino, a lot of people are looking at me as a leader, and I'm opening the door for a lot of kids who felt just like me when I was a kid. I know that five or 10 years from now, people will say, 'Yo, thanks to Daddy Yankee,' and I'll be sitting proud of that because what I'm doing now is history."

Daddy Yankee is also hard at work on Cartel, the follow-up to Barrio Fino. Pharrell, Luny Tunes and Dr. Dre are already on board to help helm tracks for the disc, due out in 2006.

Yankee and Pharrell also teamed up for the hip-hop-tinged "Mamacita," which will appear on Williams' first solo effort, In My Mind (see "Pharrell Had To Be Sneaky To Record His Solo Album").

"I'm like a diamond in the industry," Yankee said. "I'm doing the crossover [thing] right now without sacrificing who I am, and for me that's the treasure right there. I don't sell my soul. The Daddy Yankee that you hear now is the same one you'll have for a long time. I'm going to show the world what Latino is about."

Missy Elliott Says She'll Expose Rape In Autobiographical Film-courtesy of mtv.com

LOS ANGELES — Nothing against "Pootie Tang," but Missy Elliott wants to add a more respectable credit to her movie résumé.

In between her various music ventures, the highest-selling female rapper of all time is actually writing a biopic on the person she knows best.

"I'm working on my own movie on my life, which probably a lot of people don't know," Elliott said backstage at last week's American Music Awards, where she won Favorite Female Artist: Rap/Hip-Hop for the second year in a row (see "Will Smith Beats 50 Cent, Kelly Rowland Flies Solo At American Music Awards").

"It's a detailed [look at] Missy Elliott's life, 'cause I've been kinda like a character in the TV world as far as videos and stuff, so they really don't know my life story about my father being abusive, the rape [at age 8, by a 16-year-old cousin]. So y'all will see that soon."

Elliott's not sure if she will appear in the movie or who will play her, as she's concentrating on getting the script finished first.

Fortunately (or maybe not for her), she's had more free time than usual as of late thanks to the six-month recovery time required for the surgery she had earlier this fall to repair a torn Achilles tendon.

"It's the worst pain ever and I'll probably be like this till January," said Elliott, who alternated between a pimped-out wheelchair and crutches at the AMAs. "I always heard like it's a sports [injury], but most definitely I wasn't playing no football or basketball. I was in there dancing, doing wrong moves. So I'll be sitting down for a minute now."

Sitting down is probably not the best choice of words. Later this week Elliott's shoving off for the Kora African Music Awards in South Africa, and in mid-December she'll return to Los Angeles to shoot her next video.

Following "Lose Control" and "Teary Eyed" (see "Missy Elliott Has Lost Her Mind (In Her New Video, Anyway)"), Elliott has picked the party track "We Run This" as the third single from The Cookbook. She already performed the tune at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, which airs December 10.

Missy also just remixed Ashlee Simpson's new single, "L.O.V.E." (the "Missy Underground Mix" is available on the CD single); continues to work with Adidas on a line of clothing, shoes and accessories called Respect ME; and is included in the 2006 edition of prominent biography directory Who's Who in America. All of this prompted a journalist at the AMAs to describe the rapper as an icon.

"I ain't no icon," Elliott responded. "It's people like Patti LaBelle, somebody like that's an icon. I'm just Missy, I'm just crazy, that's all."

Outkast's New Album Pushed Back Until At Least February- courtesy of mtv.com

Not too long ago, Outkast's Big Boi was working fans into a tizzy with talk of a December release for Idlewild, the soundtrack to the ATL duo's upcoming film and the first album of new 'Kast music in more than two years.

And while we stick by our assertion that whatever Big Boi wants, Big Boi gets (see "Outkast Finally Ready To Drop Their New LP, Big Boi Says"), perhaps he was getting a bit carried away with things. Because according to Outkast's label, LaFace Records, the earliest Idlewild will be seeing the light of day is now February.

But it's not like that's too surprising, considering that when MTV News caught up with Boi earlier this month at the Vibe Awards (see "Mariah Wins Big, Mary J. Gets Emotional At Peaceful Vibe Awards"), he told us that the album wasn't even finished yet.

"We're about 75, 80 percent done with it. We're putting the finishing touches on it. Dre's in Atlanta right now working on it," he laughed. "There's like three potential singles right now, and we're trying to choose which one we're going to go with. When it comes out, you know it's going to be Outkast."

According to Boi, the album features 14 tracks, including "The Train" and "Idlewild Blues," and it'll be relatively free of cameos, with just frequent Outkast collaborator Sleepy Brown and Janelle Monae (whom Boi just signed to his Purple Ribbon label) making appearances. He also said that the album mirrors the jazz-era leanings of the "Idlewild" film, still due sometime next year.

"It matches the movie. The movie's set in the 1930s, so there's a lot of piano playing, a lot of ragtime, Cab Calloway, Jelly Roll [Morton]. A lot of different stuff on the album," he said. "It's a very mature album, it's rapping and everything else. You've got to expect what you always expect from Outkast, and that's the unexpected."
