Missy Elliott Writes Score For New Disney Film- courtesy of ballerstatus.net

Missy Elliott seems to be a jack of all trades. Aside from making hits records for herself, she also produces, puts out artists and writes songs...and now she can add scoring films to her resume as well.

According to a report from Rueters, the female emcee recently hooked up with Mike Simpson (one half of the production duo the Dust Brothers) to write the score for the forthcoming Disney film, "Stick It."

And according to the rapper, the opportunity to score a film has always been on her mind.

"I've always wondered what scoring a film would be like, and this fell into my lap at a great time," the rapper told Reuters. "I've been doing the artist thing for so long that you get to the point where you want to venture into other projects."

The Disney hookup came after the company inquired about possibly placing her new single, "We Run This," on the movie's soundtrack.

Elliott's first film scoring experience was a lot easier with Simpson's help said the rapper. He helped make the transition from records to film that much easier by placing temporary music in scenes to give her an idea of the tempo and tone they want.

In addition, Elliott has also wrapped filming for the video for "We Run This" earlier this month in Los Angeles, which features a cameo by Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes.

Game's Manager Jimmy Henchmen Convicted Of Assault- courtesy of allhiphop.com

James "Jimmy Henchmen" Rosemond was recently found guilty of beating a Washington D.C. disc jockey during an appearance with The Game, who Henchmen manages.

A jury found Henchmen guilty of assaulting on-air personality Xzulu "The Big Lipped Bandit" at 93.9 WKYS-FM in Lanham, Maryland.

The Game and an entourage of 20-plus people appeared on Xzulu's radio show on Jan. 21, 2005, weeks before the rapper's G-Unit/Aftermath debut, The Documentary, topped Billboard's Top 200 album chart.

During an interview, Xzulu allegedly made an off-color remark about Henchmen's cell-phone headset.

Police said a group of men, including The Game, confronted the DJ shortly afterwards and kicked and beat him, sending him to an area hospital with serious internal injuries.

On Feb. 14, 2005, The Game was formally charged with assault and battery.

Prince George's County Police started an investigation immediately after the incident was reported and issued an arrest warrant for Henchmen on misdemeanor assault charges.

"The story that's leaking out there is pretty much true," Xzulu told AllHipHop.com shortly after the incident. "I was hospitalized with multiple injuries. The person that did it was very recognizable, along with his people. It definitely happened, and it happened over some nonsense. Nonsense. I'm 35, not 25, and we're all brothers in this game. But we learn some things as we go along. I think it's a shame that we are acting so primitive, on both sides. Here you have a brother that is so talented. I think he has one of the dopest albums to come out in a long time, and I think people make bad decisions. I think that night he made a bad decision."

Radio One, which owns WKYS, reportedly stopped playing Game's singles on their various stations nationwide, in protest of the assault.

In April 2005, another man came forward and said that he was assaulted as well. Kwasi Jones filed a $280 million dollar civil-assault case against The Game, G-Unit, Shady Records, and Aftermath Entertainment.

Jones also sued the labels for being negligent, after a remix of "Hate It or Love It," (featuring 50 Cent), which originally appeared on The Documentary, featured the Game rapping "I'm rap's MVP/Don't make me remind y'all what happened in D.C."

Jones appeared on the television show, "Celebrity Justice," after the remix was released and said the song hindered his ability to recover from the beating. "I'm still trying to get over the situation and the song doesn't help," Jones told "Celebrity Justice."

When the video premiered on BET, Game told the network: "To all the people at Radio One, I'm being sincere; we're sorry about what happened in D.C. It'll never happen again."

During the trial, various witnesses identified Henchmen as Xzulu's assailant. He faces up to ten years in prison when he is sentenced April 3.

Sources told AllHipHop.com charges against The Game were dropped.

Cassidy Talks Recent Conviction- courtesy of allhiphop.com

Rapper Cassidy is speaking out for the first time since being sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in prison last week, after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault.

The rapper was convicted by Common Pleas Judge Jane Cutler Greenspan of being negligent in providing guns and ammunition to assailants that eventually killed Desmond Hawkins, a 22-year-old Philadelphia man.

"While I am pleased that I was cleared of the murder charges, my satisfaction is not long-lasting, because of the death of someone who I considered to be my friend, Des Hawkins. And while I am eager to resume my career as a recording artist, writer and performer, I am also eager to be reunited with my family, friends, and fans," Cassidy said in a statement via his defense attorney, Fortunato Perri. "I too share the important message stated in court by Des's dad, who urged all parents to love their children, and to be there for them. As the father of a young child myself, spending much time on the road and in the studio, away from home, I am relieved that I will soon be home for family and my career."

Cassidy could possibly be out of jail in a few months because of time already served. The rapper has been incarcerated since June 2005.

Despite his current status, Cassidy is looking ahead as he prepares to head back into the studio with producer Swizz Beatz to record a new album.

Swizz said that when Cassidy gets out, they would not "promote this situation as a cocky and violent situation, but as a blessed situation"

"I'd like to first thank radio and all of his fans for their love and support during this time," Swizz said. "Cass will continue to make great music, but in a positive way, educating the youth that violence is never the answer. We'll do the rest of the talking with the music."

Cassidy's record label, Full Surface/J, will release a new single titled "Cassidy (The Anthem)" Feb. 28.

The track, which was not featured on Cassidy's latest album, I'm A Hustla, will also be available as a master ringtone via all carriers Jan. 31, while the digital single will be available for download Feb. 14.

Wu Affiliate, Shabazz The Disciple, Preps Street Album- courtesy of ballerstatus.net

Wu-Tang affiliate, Shabazz The Disciple, is returning two years after the release of his last LP, The Book Of Shabazz: Hidden Scrollz, with a new street album, entitled The Passion Of The Hood, which includes a music CD and DVD.

The new street album will serve as an appetizer for fans hungry for new music. While guest appearances are kept to a minimum, the production list features Cilvaringz, Carlos Bess, Godzwrath, Get Large, Shabazz himself, Yogi and Sikh Knowledge among others.

A release date has not been confirmed, but the CD/DVD is currently on sale at venues during the Killa Beez European tour, along with T-shirts and previously released albums.

Shabazz has a long history in the game. After being discovered by Rza in 1993, he made a name for himself on the Gravediggaz debut single "Diary Of A Madman," earning him a solid fanbase worldwide.

In 1994, the rapper managed to secure a solo deal with Penalty/Tommy Boy Recordings, where he dropped his debut album, Death Be The Penalty. And enjoyed some commercial success with the album's debut single "Crime Saga," which received enormous airplay on various radio and TV outlets at the time.

But, at the peak of his success, he was arrested in New York, after police found 144 crack vials spread over his front door pavement, and faced 3 to 9 years in jail.

"I was standing up facing the judge, looking back to my girl who was pregnant at the time with our first child, and praying to God he'd let justice be served," recalls Shabazz. "And God saved me again... I was found not guilty, I cried, I thanked God, I hugged my girl, thanked my lawyer and walked away."

Since then, Shabazz continues to tour, create music and focus on his rap career.

The rapper has also recently launched his official website, www.shabazzthedisciple.biz.
