Bio
Malia has her cousins, Jason & Eric to thank for
introducing her to djing. Her cousins, along with their close dj friends
formed a crew called CREAM (Collecting Respect Educating All Minds) Foundation.
Since she was still a High School student, she could only attend family
social events or house parties which they were djing at. It wasn't until
after 2002 that she started to take djing seriously. Her network of dj's
& people in the industry continued to grow. In 2004, Malia started
working for Stacks @the San Diego location; along with Mike Jew, Slyed,
Aplus, Jay Dread & Willow. She appreciates Stacks' support & all
the opportunities they have provided; like the positive work environment,
resources within the music industry & meeting people who bring out
the best in what she loves to do. Malia has established a support system
within the community & @Stacks for female dj's (all ages) through
organizing dj workshops, creating our female dj sessions & producing
the Bonita Applebum Show on Earthbound Radio. She's currently practicing
to improve on the basics of mixing & on scratching, recently this
past year. One of Malia's goals is to keep her fellow girls on the dance
floor so her music selection seems to favor them.
